Lottery player’s strategy — of no strategy — pays off big in Maryland. ‘I was shocked’
Some lottery players take their time carefully picking their tickets, fixating on the right set of numbers.
But for a Maryland woman, her strategy is simple: have no strategy.
”I just play,” the Baltimore woman told Maryland Lottery officials in a March 24 news release. “I don’t need to worry about playing the same numbers.”
So when she stopped by a Cockeysville store, she did just that and bought some Bonus Match 5 quick pick tickets, lottery officials said.
When the player checked her ticket, a “Go to Lottery Headquarters” message popped on screen, according to lottery officials.
“She knew it was a good sign,” lottery officials said.
Her faithful “strategy” led her to a $50,000 win.
“I was shocked,” the winner told lottery officials. “It was an unbelievable feeling.”
The retired banker told lottery officials she hasn’t decided how to spend her winnings.
