Two sets of parents were involved in a fight over their children dating, leading to one father shooting another father, Texas authorities say.

The victim in the March 17 shooting in Hockley said he and his wife met the parents of their daughter’s boyfriend so they could “ask them for help in keeping the son away from their daughter as she is too young to be dating,” according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

Authorities did not specify the ages of the children who are dating.

As the parents began to fight in the street, Madison Angelica, 39, gave a gun to her husband, Luther Madison II, authorities said. Luther Madison, 39, is accused of shooting the other dad in the chest, then pointing the gun at the victim’s wife while threatening her.

The constable’s office said the victim was flown to a hospital, where his condition is unknown.

Luther Madison II was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while his wife faces one count of the same charge.

Hockley is about a 35-mile drive northwest from Houston.
