Mom’s advice leads to big ‘blessing’ for NC Lottery player. ‘My first time playing’
A lottery player followed his mom’s advice — and got a huge “blessing” in North Carolina.
Savion Lytle was visiting from South Carolina when he bought a ticket worth $150,000.
“It was my first time playing any lottery game,” the lucky winner told the N.C. Education Lottery in a March 19 news release.
Lytle hit the jackpot when he tried his luck on The Lamp, an online game. He spent $30 on his ticket after listening to his mom.
“My mom was actually the one who got me into it,” Lytle told lottery officials.
Lytle beat 1-in-1 million odds to score the game’s top prize. The winner, who bought the ticket while working in Charlotte, lives about 25 miles away in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
“This is a blessing,” he said.
Lytle kept $107,633 after taxes. Now, he hopes to spend his prize money on welding school.
It’s not the first time a lottery player has basked in beginner’s luck. Another South Carolina man won big the first time he bought a scratch-off ticket, McClatchy News reported in 2023.
