Meghan Markle on how she and Prince Harry stay connected while in the thick of parenthood
As Meghan Markle gets back to her roots, she says she and her husband, Prince Harry, are finding their balance.
In a March 12 interview with “People,” Markle, 43, opened up even more about her marriage, specifically how she and Harry reconnect with each other after a long day of work and parenting.
While talking with “People,” Markle shared that she and Harry usually opt for a “day date” or a “nightcap recap” when it comes to quality time together.
As Markle explained, she and Harry, 40, will often try to sneak away for “a quiet lunch” they call “day dates” or when that’s not feasible, they partake in “nightcap recaps” which include a drink and a conversation while preparing their kids’ lunch boxes for the next day.
Markle and Harry are parents to 5-year-old Archie and 3-year-old Lilibet.
“I think all parents in this phase with kids the same age know it’s rinse and repeat,” Markle told “People.”
The Duchess also shared how building her new lifestyle brand As Ever has reignited something between her and Harry, who she has been married to since 2018.
Markle and Harry met in 2016, while she was maintaining her then-blog known as “The Tig.”
“It’s almost like a honeymoon period again,” Markle explained.
“Because it’s exactly how it was in the beginning when he’d watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits and just really being in the details of it. I think he loves watching as much as I love doing that creative process. It’s just been fun. This is who I’ve always been.”
As a result, Markle says it feels like she and Harry are hitting their stride as a couple.
“We’ve been such a close team for so long that we’re just in it beat by beat with each other,” she shares. “And I love that. To be able to be a female founder and do that with my husband’s support means everything.”
Markle announced the new name of her company on Instagram in February.
“‘As ever’ means ‘as it’s always been’ or some even say ‘in the same way as always,’” Markle wrote. “If you’ve followed along since my days of creating The Tig, you’ll know this couldn’t be truer for me.”
“I’m thrilled to introduce you to ‘As Ever’ — a brand that I created and have poured my heart into,” Markle continued.
“This new chapter is an extension of what has always been my love language, beautifully weaving together everything I cherish — food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday.”
