Driver tries to run over church worker as children look on, Missouri cops say
An 80-year-old man infuriated that he couldn’t dump his garbage on church property targeted a maintenance worker with his car, Missouri police say.
Roland Clubb had harassed the maintenance worker at St. Raphael the Archangel church and school in St. Louis after he was told he couldn’t illegally dump on the property, according to a probable cause statement filed on March 8.
As children played in the parking lot on March 7, Clubb drove into the lot and tried to run over the worker with his vehicle, police said.
He didn’t strike the worker but stopped to yell profanities as children looked on, according to the probable cause statement. The incident was caught on surveillance footage.
Clubb was arrested and charged with assault, according to court records, but has since been released.
McClatchy News reached out to Clubb’s attorney but did not immediately receive a response.
He is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
