JetBlue pilot arrested at Boston airport on a child sexual crime charge, NC cops say
A JetBlue pilot preparing for a flight from Boston to Paris was arrested onboard his plane, according to Massachusetts news outlets and law enforcement agencies.
Jeremy Gudorf, 33, of Ohio was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection shortly after 8:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at Boston’s Logan International Airport on a warrant out of Huntersville, North Carolina, WCVB reported.
Gudorf has one unserved warrant on a charge of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to McClatchy News Feb. 21.
Authorities began investigating Gudorf in October after getting a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children regarding images of a minor, according to a news release from the Huntersville Police Department.
Gudorf lived in Huntersville “at the time the crime was committed,” but had moved out of state by the time he was identified as a suspect, police said.
No additional information on the crime was provided.
In court on Feb. 21, prosecutors asked a judge to require Gudorf to give up his passport and be held without bail, WBZ reported.
“These are serious charges,” Gudorf’s attorney said in court, the outlet reported. “He’s not just going to be able to run away from this.”
“We are aware of and closely reviewing the arrest of one of our pilots upon reporting for work at Boston’s Logan Airport Thursday evening due to an outstanding warrant,” a JetBlue spokesperson told McClatchy News. “The pilot has been placed on indefinite leave as law enforcement proceeds with the matter.”
McClatchy News reached out to Gudorf for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
Gudorf’s bail was set at $10,000 with a condition that he appear in North Carolina by Feb. 25, WBTS reported.
