81-year-old Robert De Niro shares how he bonds with his 1-year-old daughter
When he’s not promoting a new project, actor Robert De Niro is hanging out with his family.
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, while talking about his new Netflix series “Zero Day,” De Niro was asked about the kind of movies and TV shows he watches when he’s not filming them.
“Well, I don’t watch as many movies as I should. I try to watch films... I just want to keep up, but I watch current events, if you will news [and] stuff like that,” De Niro told BBC Radio 2’s “The Scott Mills Breakfast Show.”
“Now I watch, with my little girl, The Wiggles and Ms. Rachel,” the 81-year-old actor added.
As many parents are aware, “The Wiggles” is a children’s music group based in Australia and Ms. Rachel is a popular YouTube influencer for babies and toddlers.
De Niro admitted his 1-year-old daughter, Gia, whom he shares with girlfriend Tiffany Chen, has opened him up to a new world.
“I mean, I didn’t know of them until I started seeing them, and my daughter loves to watch them.”
While a guest on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” in September, De Niro was asked how he would describe himself as a father to his seven kids.
De Niro told Wallace he would describe himself as a father who is trying his best.
“I’m going to put on my gravestone, ‘I tried my best,’” he said on the show.
De Niro said he would also add, “Please forgive me for everything that I’ve done” on the stone as well.
“Were you not a good father?” Wallace questioned the actor.
“No! I tried my best,” De Niro, continuing with his candor, adding his career often got in the way of being a dad. “That’s all I can say.”
