A Virginia man purchased a top prize-winning lottery ticket while on a snack run, lottery officials said.

Lixander Paniagua-Maravilla, a Virginia Beach carpenter, turned a $5 Let’s Make a Deal scratcher into a $100,000 prize, the Virginia Lottery said in a Feb. 18 news release.

Paniagua-Maravilla told lottery officials he “screamed a little bit” after finding out about his good fortune.

“It doesn’t feel real,” he said when redeeming his prize.

He bought his ticket at a grocery store in Virginia Beach, lottery officials said.

He is the second top-prize winner since the game started in October, the lottery said. Prizes range from $5 to $100,000.

The odds of winning a top prize are 1 in 1,305,600, and the odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 4.28, according to the lottery’s website.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
