Mom’s lottery ticket wasn’t a winner — but second-chance prize came ‘right on time’
Her lottery ticket wasn’t a winner, but that didn’t stop a Georgia woman from trying her luck again.
It paid off the second time — and came with a set of keys.
“I feel happy, overwhelmingly happy,” Pamela Johnson, 45, told the Georgia Lottery after winning a new 2024 Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to a news release.
The mom of four from Athens picked up her vehicle Thursday, Jan. 30, at Athens Ford, officials said. Her big win came after she submitted her non-winning Jumbo Scratcher game ticket in the lottery’s Jumbo Cash Second Chance promotion.
“It was a blessing to win this truck,” Johnson told lottery officials. “It was right on time.”
She was the promotion’s fourth and final winner to snag the Ford F-150 grand prize. Other players who also won a vehicle were from Atlanta, Ellenwood and Tennille, according to the Georgia Lottery.
Johnson said she plans to share the win with her children and grandchildren.
“The first thing I’m going to do is probably take the kids out for a ride and see how they enjoy it,” she said.
Athens is about a 70-mile drive northeast from Atlanta.
