Lottery player just misses $88M Powerball jackpot, but still wins big prize in Georgia
A lottery player tried their luck playing Powerball — and netted a big prize, the Georgia Lottery said.
The lucky winner won $50,000 after matching four numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Feb. 1, narrowly missing the estimated $88 million jackpot, according to the lottery.
The winning ticket was sold at the Nam Dae Mun Farmers Market in Lawrenceville, officials said.
The winning numbers were 23-29-32-49-61 and red Powerball 8, draw results show. The Power Play option was 2x.
There were no $2 million winners, though someone in Florida won $1 million after matching five white ball numbers in Saturday’s drawing, according to the Powerball website.
No one won the game’s jackpot, pushing the grand prize to an estimated $100 million.
The next Powerball drawing is Monday, Feb. 3.
Lawrenceville is about a 30-mile drive northeast from downtown Atlanta.
