Former “The Bachelor” contestant, Rachael Kirkconnell, is speaking out after sitting down with Alex Cooper on “Call Her Daddy.”
Kirkconnell’s conversation with Cooper comes two weeks after her surprising breaking up with former “The Bachelor” star Matt James.
During the Jan. 28 episode, Kirkconnell revealed she was blindsided by James’ decision to end their four-year relationship and even more taken aback when he publicly announced the break up on social media just hours later without any warning.
Now, after more than a million people listened to her side of the story on YouTube, Kirkconnell is sharing an additional statement on Instagram.
“(I) just wanted to say thank you for the love and support,” she wrote.
“Everything feels scary and discouraging right now but I believe everything happens how it is meant to and I know it will be okay,” Kirkconnell continued. “It’s a blessing to be able to feel things and let them hurt.”
“Life is a messy and beautiful thing and I am thankful for all of the ups and downs it brings. Love you guys.”
During her conversation with Cooper, Kirkconnell revealed that she and James have spoken since their break up and that James admitted he could have handled delivering the news to the public better.
When Cooper asked Kirkconnell if she could see them getting back together, Kirkconnell said, “I don’t think I can.”
While in Japan together, Kirkconnell said James admitted that, despite often discussing marriage, children, and their future together, he no longer saw that future with her and ended their relationship before it went any further.
“He just had this realization that, ‘I should want to propose to you by now,’” Kirkconnell said of their final conversation as a couple. “‘And I should be ready for that but I’m not.’”
Kirkconnell said James told her that he doesn’t see himself proposing to her and couldn’t see himself married to her.
“It was a lot to hear all at once,” Kirkconnell told Cooper.
In the end, Kirkconnell said when someone tells you that “it’s your time to walk away.”
