Powerball winner just misses $59 million jackpot — but still wins big
A Powerball ticket sold in Puerto Rico won $2 million, but just missed the $59 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers and the Power Play multiplier, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Monday, Jan. 27, the national Powerball site said.
A ticket sold in Arizona also won $2 million, lottery officials said.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $69 million, with a cash value of about $30.7 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, Jan. 29, the site said.
The winning numbers were 2, 40, 47, 53 and 55, with a Powerball of 20, the lottery said. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
More than 260,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was last won Saturday, Jan. 18, when an Oregon player hit the $329 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
