‘1000-lb Sisters’ star Amy Slaton takes plea deal three months after arrest
After appearing in a Crockett County court on Dec. 19, “1000-lb Sisters” star Amy Slaton Halterman plead guilty.
According to Action News 5, Halterman and Brian Scott Lovvorn pleaded guilty to Schedule I and Schedule VI substance possession. The charges stem from their September arrest at the Tennessee Safari Park.
As WMC reports in September, Halterman was arrested Sept. 2 after officers were called to the Safari Park after one of the park guests was bitten by a camel.
After arriving at the vehicle of the guest, police said they “were immediately overtaken by suspicious odors” coming from the vehicle where Halterman, Lovvorn and two children under the age of 10 sat.
After searching the vehicle, officers found two ounces of marijuana and possible mushrooms.
At the time, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department also reported that Halterman and Lovvorn were charged with two counts of child endangerment.
However, those charges were dismissed after agreeing to take a plea deal, Action News 5 reports.
In a statement shared on the sheriff’s department Facebook page at the time of the initial arrest, the department wrote, “the charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence.”
“The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.”
After pleading guilty, Halterman and Lovvorn were sentenced to two years of supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fee each and court costs.
