A man accused of stabbing his father 50 times turned himself in to deputies, sending police on a search for the man killed in his own home, Missouri authorities said.

The son told deputies that he may have struck his father with a knife, but he could not remember the details, court documents said.

Local police went into the Manchester home following the Dec. 18 report and were hit with a strong smell of bleach, according to the criminal complaint. They found the father lying face down in the kitchen, dead with multiple stab wounds, according to police.

Jeffrey Goedde refused to tell detectives about how his dad was killed, but a Dec. 19 autopsy displayed the full extent of the father’s injuries, the criminal complaint said.

Goedde’s attorney information was not listed.

The father had been stabbed approximately 50 times, according to court documents. He also had broken bones, trauma to his head, face and back, and had been strangled, the autopsy said, according to authorities.

Goedde was charged with murder and armed criminal action, according to court records.

Manchester is about a 20-mile drive west from St. Louis.
