Trista Sutter shares relief after coming clean about marriage rumors
After revealing her involvement with the third season of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” Trista Sutter is opening up about what it felt like to share her secret.
“I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s finally here!’” the first “Bachelorette” told People. “So excited to finally share with everybody.”
The reason she was so excited to share the news is because it was preceded by months of speculation.
During her time filming the show, her husband, Ryan Sutter, took to Instagram to share several statements about missing her.
The cryptic post led to months of speculation around their 21-year marriage.
“I think there was a lot of speculation at that point in time when [Ryan] posted and then it died down, which it always does,” Trista Sutter continued explaining.
“But it was still really amazing to finally share — this is why he shouted that from the rooftops,” she continued. “And if you read it again, the post, knowing that that’s where I was, it totally makes sense.”
In May, fans of the original “The Bachelorette” couple grew concerned following those posts, which revealed they had been separated for the summer.
Alongside the black and white photo of their family of four, Ryan Sutter wrote, “I know you wish you were here for Mother’s Day. We wish you were too.”
“But sometimes being a mom means letting go of their hands, granting independence and stimulating their courageous spirit,” he continued. “Sometimes it’s necessary to exemplify the characteristics you preach - to do rather than say.”
“Sometimes it takes being uncomfortable and scared to show them that it’s ok to be uncomfortable and scared. Sometimes you have to go away so they know you’ll come back, that your love is not limited by distance or difficulty or time. Sometimes you have to do what you sometimes have to do,” Ryan Sutter cryptically wrote.
But he didn’t stop there.
In a second post, he wrote, “I really wish I could talk to you.”
“Ask you how you’re doing? How was your day. I’d really like to hear your voice - just for a minute. So many times I’ve called without much to say, not realizing how lucky I was or how much I’d miss the opportunity if it were gone,” he added, in part.
Trista Sutter later squashed any and all marriage rumors when she returned to Instagram to explain why she was away from her family for so long.
“Was it a divorce/nervous breakdown/mid-life crisis/death/trial separation back in May?” Trista Sutter wrote. “Not unless that’s what you call Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, season 3.”
In the trailer, Trista Sutter can be heard telling the cameras, “the devil on my shoulder is going, ‘You can’t do this.’ I’m just trying to believe in the angel that is telling me, ‘You can do it.’”
