Mega Millions players across the US win millions. Where were the lucky tickets sold?
Mega Millions tickets sold in California, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont won millions of dollars and narrowly missed the $695 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The tickets matched five winning numbers, but not the Mega Ball, in the drawing Friday, Dec. 13, the national Mega Millions site said.
Tickets sold in Massachusetts and New York each won $1 million, the lottery said. A ticket sold in California, which adjusts prizes based on number of tickets sold and number of winners, won $360,000.
A ticket sold in Vermont also matched the Megaplier to win $3 million.
Nobody won the grand prize, which now rises to an estimated $740 million, with a cash option of approximately $343 million, for the next drawing Tuesday, Dec. 17, the site said.
The winning numbers were 36, 43, 52, 58 and 65 with a Mega Ball of 16, the lottery said. The Megaplier was 3x.
More than 1.2 million other tickets sold in the United States won prizes ranging from $2 to $30,000 in the drawing, the lottery said.
The Mega Millions jackpot has gone unclaimed since Sept. 10, when a Texas player hit the $810 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
