Joey Lawrence and Samantha Cope make announcement months after she files for divorce
Joey Lawrence and Samantha Cope have seemingly reconciled after four months of divorce.
The 48-year-old “Blossom” actor took to Instagram on Dec. 4 to share two photos of him and Cope, 37, at an event for their new rom-com, “Marry Christmas.”
The first photo showed the two standing side-by-side. Lawrence had his arm wrapped around Cope’s waist, while Cope had her hand on Lawrence’s chest.
A second photo showed the two sharing a kiss.
“My forever after,” Lawrence wrote in a text overlay on the photo.
“I am beyond grateful. I am beyond blessed. I am galaxies beyond thankful. My heart is so full,” he added in the caption.
The couple didn’t stop there and proceeded to gush over one another in the comment section.
“Love you,” Cope wrote next to a red heart emoji.
“Love you so much baby,” Lawrence replied, also next to a red heart emoji.
The post came as a shock to many of their fans, who weren’t afraid to let them know in the comments.
“Wait...what?” one user wrote, while another one commented, “OK someone explain this please as long as Joey is happy I’m happy but yea I’m confused.”
The confusion stems from the fact that Cope filed for divorce from Lawrence in August after two years of marriage.
Cope listed the date of separation as June 7, according to People, and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
The couple initially met in 2020 while filming the Lifetime movie “My Husband’s Secret Brother.”
On August 12, 2021, the two took to Instagram to announce their engagement, People reported.
They tied the knot in Temecula, California, on May 1, 2022, and welcomed a daughter, Dylan Rose, eight months later on Jan. 16, 2023.
Cope also became a step-mother to Lawrence’s two other daughters, Charleston and Liberty, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Chandie Yawn-Nelson.
After Cope filed for divorce, Lawrence denied rumors of infidelity and said that any affair allegations were false.
He then took to Instagram in a since-deleted post and shared his reasoning for the unraveling of their marriage.
“There is no way my two eldest daughters were ever going to be accepted by my wife to be part of my family,” Lawrence wrote in the post, per People.
Cope hit back at those claims in a statement to Us Weekly, where she described Lawrence’s allegations as “deeply troubling.”
“I am confident that the truth is known to me, to Joey, and to God,” she continued. “I am choosing to put my focus on healing, caring for my daughter, and processing the loss of my marriage and my family.”
Now several months later, the two appear to be working things out — just in time for the release of their new Christmas flick, which debuted on all digital platforms on Dec. 3.
The movie, which was filmed two years ago, tells the story of brothers who accidentally schedule their weddings on the same day. And that day just so happens to be Christmas Day.
The brothers then compete for who gets the right to marry their bride on the special day, according to IMDB.
“Marry Christmas” is a bit of a family affair with Lawrence and his two brothers, Andrew Lawrence and Matthew Lawrence, starring in the movie.
Rumors of a potential reunion between Lawrence and Cope began on Dec. 1 when Cope shared behind-the-scenes footage of the filmmaking process.
“You’re the best,” Lawrence wrote next to a red heart emoji in the comment section.
