Semitruck driver loses control during wreck, crashes into condos, Virginia cops say
Four people were hospitalized after Virginia police said a car pulled out in front of a semitruck, causing the truck driver to lose control and crash into a condo building.
Crash investigators responded to the incident at about 8:15 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, in Woodbridge. They found the truck had traveled from the road into a nearby parking lot of the Moorings of Occoquan before striking a condo building at the complex, authorities said.
The semitruck hit several parked vehicles along the way, the Prince William County Police Department said in a Dec. 3 news release.
Eleven vehicles were damaged as a result of the collision, which began when a 2025 Mercedes GLE tried making a left turn and was T-boned by the truck, investigators said.
The impact caused the Mercedes to rotate and strike two other vehicles while the truck hit two vehicles on the road before heading toward the condos, according to police.
While the 32-year-old semitruck driver was not injured, four other drivers — including the 67-year-old driver of the Mercedes — were sent to hospitals with serious injuries, police said.
No one in the building was injured, the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue said in a Dec. 2 news release.
Fire officials reported moderate damage to the building — including one condo unit that was declared unsafe to occupy, displacing one person.
McClatchy News reached out to Moorings of Occoquan Association on Dec. 4 but did not immediately receive a response.
The investigation is ongoing with charges pending, police said.
Woodbridge is about a 25-mile drive southwest from Washington, D.C.
