The real reason why Ariana Grande will never return to ‘The Voice’
Ariana Grande had plenty of positive things to say about her experience on “The Voice,” but bringing her back might be a little difficult.
The 31-year-old “Wicked” actress debuted as a coach during the 21st season, but that was the last time fans saw her swivel in that iconic chair.
On Nov. 6, Grande was asked if she would ever consider returning to the show during an episode of the “Las Culturistas” podcast with hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang.

While she didn’t explicitly say she wouldn’t, she certainly seemed hesitant at what a return would entail.
“I got so emotionally attached to everyone. That’s my problem,” she said on the podcast. “I can’t do that because I really … get in there with everyone.”
She went on to explain how much she loves everyone and loves meeting new people, which was a bit overwhelming for someone who cares as much as her.
“I felt so invested,” she said, adding that she still keeps in touch with most of the artists she coached — though her busy schedule gets in the way.
During her time on the show, Grande coached the likes of Raquel Trinidad, Vaughn Mugol, Bella DeNapoli, Ryleigh Plank, Holly Forbes and Jim & Sasha Allen.
“I’m in touch with (most of) them on Instagram. I like their posts, I see their things, I see what they’re up to,” she told Rogers and Yang.
She then gave DeNapoli a shout-out for recently giving birth to her first child earlier this year, and Sasha Allen a shout-out for releasing new solo music.
“(Sasha) sent me his project last year and he’s so talented, and so I’m still in touch with some of them,” she said, adding that she got “so involved” in the process of being a coach.
Grande also had plenty of nice things to say about her fellow coaches: Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson — who she singled out as one of the greatest vocalists ever.
“I love her,” she said of Clarkson. “... She’s unbelievable. She really is one of the greatest vocalists that there ever has been…ever.”
But of all the things she liked (and didn’t like) about “The Voice,” one of the biggest perks was that iconic chair.
“No, but it was a perk,” she said when asked if the chair was the only reason she did the show.
“It was a good perk,” she joked before urging Rogers to try it if he gets the opportunity.
As a coach, Grande saw Jim & Sasha Allen make it all the way to the top-eight before facing elimination in Week 5.
Clarkson’s folk trio, Girl Named Tom, was crowned champion at the end of the finale on Dec. 14, 2021.
