An Uber Eats driver smelled an unusual scent coming from a burrito meal and pulled over to call police in New Jersey, authorities said.

After the driver picked the Uber Eats order up in Lindenwold, a strong odor of marijuana led them to make the call, the Washington Township Police Department said in a Nov. 24 statement shared to Instagram. The driver stopped their car in Washington Township, about a 20-mile drive southeast from Philadelphia.

When Officer Lou DeStefano arrived and unwrapped the “burrito,” he confirmed the order came with “extra greens,” according to police.

DeStefano found a “surprise” in the foil — more than “an ounce of raw marijuana” inside of a plastic bag — instead of a burrito, police said.

The marijiuana found inside the “burrito” meal, according to authorities.

The order also came with a water bottle and box of soup “instead of rice and beans,” according to police, who didn’t specify where the meal was purchased from.

Now, Washington Township police are investigating, the department said.

“If you know anything about this high-flying delivery, call our Detective Bureau at 856-589-0330,” the department’s post said.

Uber didn’t immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment Nov. 25.

Marijuana is recreationally legal in New Jersey. Individuals 21 and older can legally purchase marijuana at a state-licensed dispensary and are allowed to have up to 6 ounces of cannabis products.
