One of the jaw-dropping details to come from Martha Stewart’s Netflix documentary, “Martha,” was about her first husband, Andrew Stewart.

In the documentary, which premiered on Oct. 30, Martha Stewart admitted that both she and Andrew Stewart were unfaithful in their marriage, which ended in a divorce in 1990.

She went on to tell viewers that if their husband cheats on them, then “he’s a piece of (expletive),” before further admitting that she wasn’t any better.

“He treated me really badly. And, in return, I guess I treated him badly,” she said in the documentary.

But while she thought he never knew about her infidelity, producers of the documentary said that wasn’t the case.

According to Today, one producer notified her that Andrew Stewart told them he “didn’t stray” from their marriage until he learned that she had, to which Martha Stewart disagreed.

“Oh, that’s not true,” she said in the documentary. “I don’t think…”

Now that millions of people have seen the documentary, an Oct. 12 Facebook post from Andrew Stewart’s current wife, Shyla Nelson Stewart, has resurfaced.

In the post, signed by both Shyla and Andrew Stewart, the couple blasted Martha Stewart for not letting go of the past and giving viewers an unrealistic account of what really happened decades ago.

While Shyla Nelson Stewart talked very highly of her current husband, she admits she was well aware of his past. But she says his past was wrongfully portrayed in the documentary.

“Prior to this happy chapter of his life, Andy had some dark ones, including a painful and abusive marriage to Martha (as in, Martha Stewart), which ended almost 40 years ago,” she wrote.

“While Andy quietly moved on and forward with his life, it appears that Martha continues to publicly relitigate the marriage, including comments in a sensationalized trailer for an upcoming documentary on Netflix,” she continued.

The documentary was released 18 days after the post was published.

The Stewarts didn’t provide any specifics about Andy Stewart’s marriage to Martha Stewart, but instead focused on how happy they are today.

“Andy and I have built a life of beauty, meaning, productivity, and purpose, infused with true love, which we share as fully as we can with our beautiful blended family of 5 amazing adult children, our 3 adorable grandchildren, our extended family, and many cherished friends,” they wrote.

They concluded the post with a positive message to those reading it, including Martha Stewart.

“We both wish everyone, including Martha herself, the experience of loving and being loved deeply and fully, and the peace that comes from such a love,” they added.

Martha and Andrew Stewart originally met on a blind date in 1960 while the two were in college.

They tied the knot a year later in July 1961 and welcomed their first and only daughter, Alexis Stewart, on Sept. 27, 1965.

The couple initially separated in 1987 before finalizing their divorce in 1990 after nearly 30 years of marriage.

Andrew Stewart went on to marry his ex-wife’s assistant, Robyn Fairclough, three years later, but called it quits shortly after, according to E! News.

He married Shyla Nelson in Oct. 2016, according to her Facebook page.

While Martha Stewart hasn’t publicly dated anyone since splitting with tech billionaire Charles Simonyi in 2008, she says she’s still open to finding love, but only if it complements her professional life.

“I think they really want a woman who will take care of them, so I’m still not quite in the position where I can take care of a man full-time because I work too much,” she said in a 2023 interview with E! News.
