As a lucky Virginia lottery player stared at her screen, she saw a message that she just couldn’t believe, officials said.

Nicole Vann won a $791,969 jackpot playing the Virginia Lottery’s The Lamp online game, according to a Nov. 4 news release, but she said she hardly remembers the moment.

“It was a blur!” Vann said in the release.

She told lottery officials she and her husband logged in and out multiple times to make sure she really had won.

“No, this is not possible,” she remembers saying.

Vann said she has no immediate plans for her winnings, the lottery said.

The Lamp game includes 15 symbols on a 5x3 grid, with five different ways to win a prize, according to the game’s website.

The odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.55, but the odds of winning a top prize vary by price point, the lottery said. Plays cost between 50 cents and $30, and the estimated jackpot as of Nov. 6 is more than $123,000.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
