67-year-old tells ’11-year-old’ not to tell her mom about their sex chats, PA cops say
A 67-year-old man spoke to who he thought was an 11-year-old girl and invited her to his home for a sexual encounter, Pennsylvania police say.
But when he opened the door for what he thought was a preteen girl, he was greeted by a camera crew and members of a vigilante group, according to the Bensalem Police Department. It was an undercover operation, leading to the 67-year-old man’s arrest.
The vigilante group, who call themselves the Predator Poachers, posed as the 11-year-old and began chatting with Keith Page on Facebook, police said in a Nov. 6 news release. Their conversations turned sexual, as Page shared explicit photos and urged her not to tell her mother, according to police.
“Age is only a number,” Page is accused of saying in one of the conversations.
Page gave his address to the “11-year-old,” police said, adding that he agreed to meet her for sex on Nov. 4. Instead of the girl, it was the Predator Poachers, who called police upon their arrival.
Police said Page “admitted to asking for and sending sexually explicit photos and engaging in sexually explicit conversations” with the girl.
He was arrested and charged with rape of a child, sexual abuse of children and corruption of minors, among other charges, according to police. He was jailed on $2 million bail.
Although the Predator Poachers aided in the arrest, police said it does not condone their behavior.
“Anyone who has information about a possible child predator (is urged) to call the police before making contact so that the safety of all involved can be maintained and the prosecutorial integrity of these investigations can be preserved,” police said in the news release.
“It should also be noted that the Bensalem Township Police Department has a robust, proactive approach to identifying and prosecuting these types of offenders and has made numerous arrests for this type of illegal conduct.”
Bensalem is about a 20-mile drive northeast from Philadelphia.
