Olivia Rodrigo won’t date you if you answer this question wrong
Olivia Rodrigo doesn’t want to hear about how much you love outer space.
That’s what the “drivers license” singer, who has been linked to actor Louis Partridge since December, said in a recent interview with Netflix, which was posted to Instagram on Nov. 1.
“This is a very oddly specific question that I ask guys on first dates,” she said before describing her biggest red flag in a guy.
“I always ask them if they think that they would want to go to space,” she continued. “And if they say yes, I don’t date them.”
She went on to argue that wanting to go to space is “just weird,” and those who would like to make that trip someday are “a little too full” of themselves.
Fans were quick to share their thoughts on social media, including one X user who wrote, “guess her type is down to Earth.” Another user wrote, “you’re so real for the space one.”
But one fellow celebrity, in particular, appeared to agree with the “Brutal” singer.
“It’s true,” Grimes wrote on X. “Only women should be going to space.”
The comment was a bit ironic, considering Grimes shares three children with SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
For context, SpaceX performed the first-ever private spacewalk in September when four private citizens, led by billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, got a view of Earth that only a few people have ever seen before.
But according to Rodrigo’s Netflix interview, none of that would impress her enough for a second date.
Rodrigo was first linked to Partridge late last year, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
They initially sparked dating rumors in October 2023 when they were spotted in London together. Those rumors were confirmed two months later when they were seen kissing each other in New York City.
More recently, the couple were spotted at the Manchester United vs. Chelsea Premier League match in Manchester, England, according to People.
As photos of the two went viral, fans noticed something special around Rodrigo’s neck.
At first glance it looked like just another necklace, but then fans saw the “L” charm hanging from it. While not confirmed by Rodrigo herself, fans speculated that the “L” could stand for “Louis.”
Their relationship started more than one year after her breakup with producer Zack Bia. She was also previously linked to director Adam Faze and actor-singer Joshua Bassett.
In an August 2021 interview with “Variety,” the “good 4 u” singer opened up about what it was like revealing personal details about herself and her dating history in her debut “Sour” album.
“I definitely talked about my deepest, darkest secrets and insecurities on Sour—which is sort of strange to be like, ‘Here, you guys can have this. Anyone who wants to listen to it can listen to it,’” she said.
She went on to describe it as “empowering” and “really awesome” to see so many of her fans resonate with the vulnerability she was feeling when she wrote those songs.
She also revealed that she has always had a knack for writing breakup songs, even when she wasn’t going through a breakup.
“I literally wrote breakup songs before I’d ever held a boy’s hand or even remotely dated someone,” she told the outlet.
