Ben Affleck shares rare comment on estranged wife Jennifer Lopez amid divorce
Nearly three months after Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, Affleck is sharing a rare statement about his estranged wife.
Prior to filing for divorce, Lopez and Affleck worked together on a film called “Unstoppable.”
According to Entertainment Tonight, Lopez and her co-star Jharrel Jerome’s performances “have gotten incredible reviews.”
Affleck and his longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon produced the film.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Affleck talked about the upcoming movie, expected to premiere on Prime Jan. 16.
“Billy Goldenberg and Jennifer and Don Cheadle and Jharrel Jerome and Bobby Cannavale, all of whom were really passionate about this film,” Affleck began, adding that it was a story he was particularly drawn too because they “really believe in the power of storytelling when the people involved in it are deeply emotionally connected to it.”
“Jennifer is spectacular,” he said of his estranged wife’s performance. “Anthony (Robles) is in the movie, in part as himself he does the wresting, and Jharrel’s amazing. … It’s another one that we’re really, really proud of.”
“Unstoppable” follows the story of Anthony Robles, played by Jerome, and his mom Judy Robles, played by Lopez, as Anthony Robles fights to become an NCAA national championship wrestler despite being born with one leg.
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck first on Aug. 20 without using a lawyer.
Lopez and Affleck married in 2022 after rekindling their romance in 2021 following the end of their first engagement in 2004.
In court documents, Lopez listed their date of separation as April 26.
Lopez briefly touched on her divorce in a conversation published in Interview magazine in October.
While talking about really being alone for the first time in her life, Lopez said, “It feels lonely, unfamiliar, scary.”
“It feels sad. It feels desperate. But when you sit in those feelings and go, ‘These things are not going to kill me,’ it’s like actually, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself. Being in a relationship doesn’t define me.”
