TikTok star vanished near a Walmart, Georgia cops say. Now, a man faces murder charge
A man faces a murder charge in the death of a TikTok star who disappeared nearly a week ago, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches, 24, of Cornelia is charged with kidnapping Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez and will soon be charged in her killing, investigators said in an Oct. 29 news release.
Agents arrested Rivera-Sanches in Atlanta on Monday, Oct. 28, the GBI said.
The charges come after GBI agents and deputies with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office found human remains they believe to be Rodriguez-Ramirez.
The 25-year-old content creator, boasting more than 27,000 TikTok followers, was last seen near a Walmart store in Cornelia on Oct. 22, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Her family reported her missing Oct. 23.
Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell said Rodriguez-Ramirez contacted someone by text message at about 9:30 p.m. the evening before she vanished, WANF reported.
It was her fiancé, Julio Tovor, who told Now Habersham about the suspicious message he received from Rodriguez-Ramirez before he went to bed.
“I am waiting for the brother to pick him up,” it read, Tovor told the outlet. “It didn’t make sense. She doesn’t talk like that.”
The remains were taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy is scheduled, the GBI said.
Authorities didn’t say how or if Rodriguez-Ramirez knew her accused killer, or what led to her death.
On TikTok, she posted videos of her gym workouts and shared others detailing her time in jail at 13 years old, People reported. Her family said she leaves behind a 9-year-old daughter, who lives in Puerto Rico, Now Habersham reported.
Authorities said the investigation into Rodriguez-Ramirez’s death is ongoing.
Rivera-Sanches remained in custody at the Habersham County Detention Center as of Oct. 30, online records show.
