After announcing singer Liam Payne’s first posthumous single would be released soon, one of his collaborators walked back the news.

On Oct. 28, Grammy-winning producer Sam Pounds took to social media to announce the release date of his next song titled “Do No Wrong,” featuring a very special artist.

He later announced that he will hold off sharing the song with the world until Payne’s family is ready to do so.

“Today I’m deciding to hold ‘Do No Wrong’ and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire). Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet. We are all still mourning the passing of Liam and I want the family to morn in peace and in prayer. We will all wait. With love Sam Pounds.”

Pounds dedicated the song to Payne’s family and friends, who continue to mourn following the singer’s tragic death two weeks ago.

“I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed,” Pounds wrote in his post, which People reported has since been deleted, alongside images of the song’s cover art.

“I pray angels will comfort you all everyday while listening,” he continued.

Payne tragically died on Oct. 16 while vacationing in Buenos Aires. He was just 31 years old at the time of his death.

In his original announcement, Pounds said he prays that the song “will be a blessing to Ruth, Bear, and the entire family,” referring to his sister, Ruth Gibbins, and son, Bear Grey Payne.

Payne shares Bear, 7, with his ex-girlfriend, Cheryl Cole. The couple started dating in 2016, but broke it off two years later.

“I pray that this song eclipses the negative echoes. I pray supernatural positive healing power will embrace each and every one of you,” Pounds continued. “Let’s all BE the blessing.”

Pounds has since deleted the post on X, People reported.

Payne started to make a name for himself in 2008 and 2010 while appearing as a solo act on the British television series “The X Factor.”

While he was eliminated both times, he returned to the show in 2010 and joined One Direction at the request of Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger.

That’s when Payne met Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

Payne began his career as a solo artist after the band took an indefinite hiatus in 2016. He released his first solo album, titled LP1, in 2019.

His newest single with Pounds will be his first song since his “Teardrops” single, which he released in March. As of Oct. 29, the song has more than 10 million plays on Spotify.

On Oct. 17, the day after Payne’s tragic death, Pounds posted a series of photos and videos of the two together, including shots of them in the studio.

He also shared some videos of Payne doing some of his best impressions while eating at a restaurant with friends.

“I can’t believe you are gone in this way,” he wrote in the caption. “This is how I’ll always remember brother………..The happy, funny, and talented brother, father, and friend.”

Pounds returned to Instagram on Oct. 22 to share more behind the scenes footage of him and Payne working on “Do No Wrong.”

In the caption, he revealed that Payne had “originally wanted” Chris Brown to feature on the song.
