A TV reporter who authorities say was shot in a domestic incident has been released from a hospital’s intensive care unit after two weeks, her Ohio station said.

Winnie Dortch, a reporter for WOIO-TV in Cleveland, was discovered shot on a sidewalk Oct. 7 in Lakewood, McClatchy News reported.

A man, identified by WKYC as 34-year-old Bryant Carter, was found dead during the same incident. It’s believed that Carter shot Dortch, then killed himself, the news outlet reported.

Police have not said what led to the shooting.

Dortch, who is a mother to a 4-year-old girl, underwent multiple surgeries after the shooting, according to a GoFundMe.

WOIO said Oct. 21 Dortch is making a “miraculous” recovery.

“Winnie still has months of therapy ahead of her, but is doing well and can’t wait to get back to work!” WOIO said. “She wants to thank everyone for the kind words of support.”

In September, Dortch announced she had accepted a reporting job for WGN in Chicago. At the time, she said she would be starting the “dream” job in December.

“She is a loving, kind-hearted, and nonviolent person—known for her bright spirit, dedication to her work, and her deep love for family, especially her 4-year-old daughter, Kaelie,” a loved one said in a GoFundMe. “Winnie’s enthusiasm to reunite with her Chicago community and continue her career as a news reporter was something she eagerly looked forward to.”

Lakewood is a western suburb of Cleveland.
