Tom Holland shares very rare comment about sweet things he does for girlfriend Zendaya
If actress and model Zendaya needs something fixed around the house, she knows who to call: her super handy boyfriend and fellow actor Tom Holland.
The 28-year-old, who prefers to keep his relationship with Zendaya out of the limelight, shared a rare comment about what life is like for the power couple while appearing on “The Rich Roll Podcast” on Oct. 17.
“If something breaks in Zendaya’s house, I take huge pride in fixing it,” Holland said on the podcast. “The other day, she has this guest room, which was ... it wasn’t the greatest room, like it needed some love.”
So, Holland went to work.
Not only did he build Zendaya some new cupboards, but he also “put up a new wardrobe and fitted it in so it looked like it was part of the wall,” which he was “very proud” of.
But while he might be handy, Holland doesn’t consider himself a carpenter.
“I have built things, in the past. I could fix a door for you, if it came off the hinges,” he said, adding that it was his grandfather who taught him carpentry from an early age.
One day, he hopes to put what he learned to the test.
“Hopefully, one day, one of my goals is to have a property where I can have a little workshop on site and keep up that little family tradition of carpentry,” he continued.
This isn’t the first we’re hearing of Holland’s love for carpentry. The “Spider-Man” actor previously opened up about his handy work in an interview with UNILAD in June 2023.
When asked about his resume, the interviewer brings up the fact that he worked as a pub dishwasher and is a “trained carpenter from a long line of carpenters.”
Holland’s eyes lit up when he heard the word “carpenter.”
“Carpentry is something I just really enjoy. I love it. I made my mum’s kitchen table. I made my mum’s office. I built all the cupboards in my bedroom. I built a little birdhouse with my granddad,” he explained.
And he also fixed Zendaya’s door once.
“I was hanging out at her house,” he said, adding that it was early on in the relationship. “Her door was broken. I was like, ‘I’m gonna fix that door for you.’ And now we’re in love.”
Holland isn’t the only one opening up about the relationship.
On Oct. 15, Zendaya was asked which of her friends and family she would prefer to bring to a dance class. Holland was her initial response, but she quickly walked that answer back.
“And then I’d say dance class? I would say I’d bring Tom with me, but he’s too good,” Zendaya said to Teen Vogue. “It would piss me off.”
She went on to admit that she’d rather take someone “who could be equally as bad as me” before volunteering her 8-year-old niece. “I would like to take a dance class with her. That would be fun.”
But while that spot’s taken, Zendaya says she would rather go kayaking with Holland.
“Kayaking, I would choose Tom because I think that, if I can remember correctly, with the kayak, you have to be in sync with the person,” she said, adding that it would be funny because they’re both controlling.
“We both want to be in charge,” she continued. “So it would be funny to watch us be like, no, we’re going to go this way. No, we’re going to go that way.”
