Kids of late model Kim Porter speak out after unauthorized book is published
The children of model and actress Kim Porter are speaking out after a memoir claiming to be written by the late star was shared with the public.
“We have seen so many hurtful and false rumors circulating about our parents, Kim Porter and Sean Combs’ relationship, as well as about our mom’s tragic passing,” they began their Sept. 24 statement shared on Instagram.
As a result of the rumors, the siblings said they felt “the need to speak out.”
Quincy Brown, King Combs, D’Lila Star Combs and Jessie James Combs said the claims that Porter, who unexpectedly died Nov. 15, 2018, “wrote a book are simply untrue.”
“She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves,” they wrote. “Additionally, please understand that any so-called ‘friend’ speaking on behalf of our mom or her family is not a friend. Nor do they have her best interests at heart.”
Their decision to speak out comes after self-proclaimed publisher and producer Chris Todd told The Daily Mail that Porter allegedly shared a filed with her “close friends” that contained writings detailing her relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs.
“I didn’t ask too many questions about how they got it [or] where did it come from,” Todd told Rolling Stone in a separate interview.
“If somebody put my feet to the fire and they said, ‘Life or death, is that book real?’ I have to say I don’t know. But it’s real enough to me,” Todd continued.
“Sometimes you have to just put it out there. Maybe not 100% of the book is true, but maybe 80% is. That is to get those people to come forward and either corroborate or deny [the claims], and that helps me as an investigator to know the truth.”
News of the alleged writings titled “Kim’s Lost Words” was shared with the public after Combs was arrested and denied bail, according to Rolling Stone. It’s now trending on Amazon.
On Sept. 17, Combs was arrested in New York City and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, USA Today reports.
“Our lives were shattered when we lost our mother. She was our world, and nothing has been the same since she passed,” her children continued. Kim died of pneumonia at the age of 47.
“While it has been incredibly difficult to reconcile how she could be taken from us too soon. The cause of her death has long been established. There was no foul play,” they added, calling out the rumors that her cause of death was more nefarious.
“Grief is a lifelong process, and we ask that everyone respect our request for peace as we continue to cope with her loss every day.”
The siblings continued, saying, “we are deeply saddened that the world has made a spectacle of what has been the most tragic event of our lives. Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful. strong, kind and loving woman she was.”
“Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories,” they wrote before asking for “respect.”
“Hold her legacy in high regard so that she may rest in peace. It’s what she deserves. ‘We love you and miss you, mommy.’’
