Lottery player won big in 2023 – and now he’s won again. ‘All about doing good deeds’
A Maryland lottery winner attributes his most recent stroke of good luck to “doing good” for other people, lottery officials said.
The winner, who went by the nickname “Local Philanthropist,” said he’s continued helping his neighbors with daily chores like lawn work and groceries even after he won $100,000 on an “In the Money” scratch-off in September 2023, according to a Sept. 23 news release from the Maryland Lottery.
Now, the retired maintenance worker has won a top prize of $50,000 on a $5 Joker’s Wild ticket, lottery officials said.
“It’s all about doing good deeds,” the winner told lottery officials, explaining why he believes he got lucky twice.
“I saw a lot of $5,000s,” the Washington County resident told lottery officials. “I knew it was good.”
The winner said he plans to use his prize to help a family member, according to the release.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Sheetz in Hagerstown, lottery officials said.
Hagerstown is about a 75-mile drive northwest from Baltimore.
