Non-verbal boy found wandering alone as caretaker was intoxicated, Georgia cops say
The caretaker of a young boy found wandering alone was arrested, Georgia police said.
Police asked the public for help identifying the child, who they said is non-verbal, after he was spotted walking along Welborn Street in Hinesville, police said in a Sept. 17 news release.
Authorities said the boy looked to be about 4 or 5 years old.
Further investigation revealed the person tasked with watching the child was “extremely intoxicated” and passed out, allowing the boy to leave the home, police said.
The caretaker, who police said isn’t a family member, was arrested and is facing charges. Authorities did not say what charges the caregiver is facing.
The child was later reunited with his family, according to authorities.
Hinesville is about a 40-mile drive southwest from Savannah.
