Man asked to leave bar shoots, kills mom of 4 from parking lot, Pennsylvania cops say
A mother of four was killed and four others were injured in a shooting at a Pennsylvania bar, police say.
Nathan Joseph Fink, 40, is charged with criminal homicide and reckless endangerment following the Sept. 7 shooting at Breakers Pub in Lawrence County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Fink had gotten into a fight with patrons at the Ellwood City bar and was escorted out of the building, police said. He drove away, but returned to the parking lot and opened fire with a rifle and a handgun, police said.
The bullets struck multiple vehicles and came through the entrance of the bar, hitting several patrons, according to police. A witness heard 10 to 15 shots fired, then another round of gunfire seconds later, according to WFMJ.
Crystal Wawrzynski, 37, was struck by the gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. Her husband also was shot.
Fink fled the bar and continued firing his gun at businesses and residences, and at least one person was hit while inside his own apartment, state police said.
Fink was arrested at his home later in the day.
Wawrzynski was a mother of four and a grandmother of one, according to an obituary. Her interests included “reading, watching dramas, playing pool, and throwing darts,” the obituary states.
“This family now doesn’t have a mom, a sister, daughter. She’s gone and it’s just not fair,” Mary Greene, Wawrzynski’s close friend, told WPXI, calling her death “devastating.”
The other four people struck by the gunfire suffered non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
Ellwood City is about a 40-mile northwest from Pittsburgh.
