Grandpa shoots woman, her boyfriend in front of kids in custody fight, Texas cops say
A Texas grandfather is accused of shooting his granddaughter’s mother and her boyfriend in front of two kids following a custody dispute, police told news outlets.
Officers responded to the scene of the shooting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, on San Antonio’s southwest side, KSAT reported.
According to investigators, a man and woman were shot while driving with two children in the car, a girl and 10-year-old boy, when the grandfather opened fire on them, the station reported.
Prior to the shooting, the woman got into an argument with the grandfather over custody of her daughter, police told KENS.
At some point, police said she got into a car with her boyfriend and kids, and they drove away from him, KABB reported.
But the grandfather followed them, pulled up alongside their car and shot at them, police told the outlet. The mother and boyfriend were both struck by gunfire, but the children were not hurt.
The pair drove themselves to a hospital and their injuries were reportedly non-life-threatening, police told KENS.
Officers located the grandfather and detained him, the station reported.
