Mega Millions player wins $3 million prize. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Mega Millions ticket sold in Tennessee won $3 million and narrowly missed the $535 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The Tennessee ticket matched all five winning numbers and the Megaplier, but not the Mega Ball, in the drawing Friday, Aug. 23, to win $3 million, the Tennessee Lottery said.
A ticket sold in Texas also matched five winning numbers for a $1 million prize.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $575 million, with a cash option of approximately $285.5 million, for the next drawing Tuesday, Aug. 27, the national Mega Millions site said
The winning numbers were 28, 30, 44, 66 and 69 with a Mega Ball of 2. The Megaplier was 3.
More than 1 million other tickets sold in the United States won prizes ranging from $2 to $30,000 in the drawing, the lottery said.
The Mega Millions jackpot has gone unclaimed since June 4, when an Illinois player hit the $552 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
