A man accused of bringing a laptop with child porn to a computer store for repair has been charged, California prosecutors say.

The 49-year-old man was charged with a felony count of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on Thursday, Aug. 22, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

At his arraignment, the Ventura man pleaded not guilty, according to prosecutors.

The man brought his laptop, which stored “a large quantity of suspected” child porn, to a computer shop for repair, prosecutors said.

After getting a search warrant for his home, Ventura police officers found additional “suspected CSAM” on other devices, according to prosecutors.

Following their investigation, police arrested the man on Aug. 5, prosecutors said.

The man, who is out of jail custody after posting $50,000 bail, is expected to appear in court again on Sept. 26, according to prosecutors.

Ventura is about a 70-mile drive northwest from Los Angeles.
