A Powerball player in Georgia netted a life-changing prize, narrowly missing the game’s estimated $44 million jackpot.

Someone in Jasper matched four numbers and the red Powerball to win $100,000 in the drawing Monday, Aug. 19, according to the Georgia Lottery.

The player would’ve won $50,000 but spent an extra $1 on the Power Play option, doubling their prize.

The lucky ticket was sold at a Valero convenience store on East Church Street in Jasper, officials confirmed.

The winning numbers were 1, 2, 15, 23, 28 and red Powerball 10, according to the lottery game’s website. The Power Play multiplier option was 2X.

Someone in California snagged the $44.3 million jackpot, marking the second jackpot won so far this month, officials said. There was also a $1 million winner in Nebraska.

“Last night’s drawing marked the seventh time the Powerball jackpot has been won this year,” according to the game’s website. “The Powerball jackpot was previously won last week in Pennsylvania by a ticket that won a $213.8 million jackpot.”

The next Powerball drawing is Aug. 21 with an estimated $20 million jackpot.

Jasper is about a 60-mile drive north from Atlanta.
