Country music star Lauren Alaina shares first message after announcing father’s death
Country music superstar Lauren Alaina is speaking out for the first time since taking a break to grieve the death of her father.
Alaina shared news of her father’s passing on July 24. She took to Instagram to share a statement confirming J.J. Suddeth’s death.
“We lost my daddy last night,” Alaina told her followers at the time. “And I really don’t have words yet. I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte as I am going home to be with my family.”
Alaina thanked her fans for their “prayers and understanding.”
Now, Alaina is back on the road, but is thanking her family, friends and fans for all the love and support they’ve shown her over the last several weeks.
“Thank you. I can’t think of much else to say right now other than thank you. Thank you to everyone who has checked on me and continued to show up for me,” she began before applauding Jason and Brittany Aldean for treating her like family.
“Thank you to my husband for being the arms that are holding me together all day and all night long. Thank you to my brother and sister and their beautiful babies for the FaceTimes at all times of the day to make me smile or bring me comfort in any way you can,” Alaina continued.
“Thank you to my momma and bonus dad for coming out on the road with me. Thank you to my team for giving me a loving environment on the road. Most of all thank you Jesus for the unconditional love and strength from the Kingdom of God surrounding all of us right now as we navigate this pain and sorrow.”
Friends and fans were quick to share their condolences in the comment section after the singer announced her father’s death. “So sad. Losing my dad was the hardest part (of) my life,” a fan wrote, relating to what Alaina is going through. “He was soo soo special to me. I understand how you feel and what you’re going through. Be brave for him and embrace his life and love.”
Alaina often shared her relationship with her dad on social media.
While sharing a photo of herself and Suddeth at her wedding, she celebrated Father’s Day talking about the song she wrote for him, “My Old Man.”
“Happy Fathers Day to ‘my old man’ with a heart the size of Texas!! I love you so much daddy and hope you have the best day fishin’. Love, your turd (pinky).”
“I wrote this song for my daddy for our daddy/daughter dance. It was such a special moment during our wedding. I will truly never forget it,” she revealed. “I knew I found the one when they became best friends. My good ole boy and My Old Man.”
