Motorcyclist with pit bull in his lap and meth in his sock arrested in PA, cops say

A 28-year-old Pennsylvania man is accused of riding a motorcycle “too fast” and while on drugs, all with a pit bull balanced in his lap, officials said.

A trooper stopped the bike after midnight on June 23, traveling along a road near Lancaster, in southeastern Pennsylvania, according to a recent State Police news release. The driver of the 2005 Kawasaki had made numerous traffic violations, the trooper said, including driving carelessly, not using turn signals, blowing past a stop sign, “driving too fast for conditions” and having no license plate displayed.

As the trooper approached the motorcyclist, they quickly noticed something unexpected — an extra passenger, according to officials.

“The operator of this motorcycle had a large dog on his lap while operating the motorcycle and committing the above listed traffic offenses,” officials said in the release.

But the dog was only the first surprise, as the trooper said they also found meth stashed in one of the man’s socks, as well as marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Additionally, he was “determined to be under the influence of drugs,” officials said.

There were active warrants out for the man’s arrest for running from police, according to officials. He was arrested and booked into the Lancaster County Prison.

The dog turned out to be friendly and was given a ride back home, the trooper said.

“The dog willingly took a ride in a patrol car back to the (motorcyclist’s) registered address, where it was released to a responsible party,” officials said.

Lancaster is a roughly 70-mile drive west from Philadelphia.
