Family had to surrender sweet huskies. Now ‘built-in’ best friends need home together
When a family welcomed a new baby, they had to surrender two “happy and sweet” huskies to a New York shelter.
Now, the “built-in” best friends are looking for a new home, Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society said in a July 17 Facebook post.
“We are heartbroken for everyone involved,” the shelter based in Utica said.
The family’s child was experiencing lung issues, and the husky hair would make it worse, the humane society said.
Because of this, the dogs had to find a new home.
Oso is a 2-year-old husky with blue eyes, and his companion is Zeus — a brown-eyed 4-year-old husky.
The shelter said these two male dogs are a bonded pair, so they need to be adopted together.
But people shouldn’t be intimated about adopting these two, the shelter said.
Oso and Zeus are “extremely friendly to everybody they meet,” including children and other dogs.
The shelter said adopting both of them will help the dogs transition into their new home better.
“When we receive bonded pairs, it is clear that they have been together most of their lives, so we keep them together after already having lost their homes and their families,” the shelter said.
More information about Oso and Zeus can be found on the humane society’s website.
Utica is about a 95-mile drive northwest from Albany, the capital of New York.
