A New Jersey cemetery worker was killed in a freak accident with a wood chipper, police and prosecutors say.

Eonias Mateo-Perez, 22, was found dead Wednesday, July 10, after what police described as a “work-related” accident at Saint Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office said in a July 11 news release.

Officers were called to the cemetery at about 6:20 p.m. They said Mateo-Perez was operating tree-chipping equipment before the deadly accident, but there were no details on what happened.

Authorities said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

Flemington is about a 20-mile drive northeast from Trenton.
