Dad and daughter shot and killed while trying to sell a car, Georgia police say
A man and his daughter were shot to death when a car sale dispute turned violent, Georgia police told news outlets.
It happened Sunday, June 23, at the Freedom Park Apartments in South Fulton, WSB-TV reported, citing the city’s police department.
Officers arrived at the complex to find a man and a woman fatally shot, according to WANF. They were identified as Stanley Neely, 58, and his daughter, Heather Neely, 35, the station reported, citing the Fulton County Medical Examiner.
Investigators believe Neely and his daughter were selling a car and got in an argument with the buyer, who reportedly shot them, according to WAGA.
It’s not clear if the Neelys and the buyer knew each other beforehand.
McClatchy News reached out to the South Fulton Police Department on June 25 and was awaiting a response.
The shooter ran off before authorities arrived, WSB-TV reported.
“Whoever did this, you know who you are,” Melonie Smith, a relative of the victims, told the station. “Anybody else who knows something please say something. He needs to pay for what he did.”
Police said they’ve identified the accused shooter and have issued warrants for their arrest, WANF reported.
Authorities didn’t release additional details but said the investigation is ongoing.
The City of South Fulton is about a 20-mile drive southwest from downtown Atlanta.
