An animal shelter in Maryland is on a mission to find a loving home for an adorable dog whose past is just as mysterious as a DC comic book character.

Meet Asla, the sweetest, most handsome senior pup who happens to be one patient ball of fluff, according to an SPCA of Anne Arundel County June 10 post on Facebook. Only thing is, the shelter doesn’t have much information about Asla’s background and where he came from.

“Asla is such a sweet boy who seems to have had a hard life before he came here. We aren’t quite sure what his 10 years of life were like before we met him but we do know that he needs a little time to warm up and fully trust new people,” the post says.

“Given the chance, he does warm up quickly to people and has showed that he is just looking for someone he can trust and genuinely wants to form a strong bond with his people! Once he does, he will follow them all around the house, especially to the kitchen!”

According to his adoption profile, Asla is a poodle, miniature/mix who rarely barks and is all for attention once his trust sets in. He gets along with other dogs but likes to chase squirrels. He especially loves when it’s time to go for a walk.

“Asla loves to give kisses and roll over for belly rubs. He has a sweet habit of nudging your arm when he wants attention,” the post says.

“When you step outside, he will wait for you by the door, but shows no signs of separation anxiety when left alone for longer periods and hardly ever barks, He is a loving, smart and attentive dog who desperately wants a safe place to call home!”

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County is located in Annapolis. For more information on Asla and other adoptable pets, visit the shelter’s website.
