Powerball player just misses $173 million jackpot in Connecticut — but still wins big
A Powerball ticket sold in Connecticut won $1 million and narrowly missed the $173 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Monday, June 3, the Connecticut Lottery said.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $185 million, with a cash value of $86 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, June 5, according to the national Powerball site.
The winning numbers were 19, 29, 35, 36 and 45, with a Powerball of 16.
More than 4,500 other Powerball tickets sold in Connecticut also won prizes ranging from $4 to $200, the state lottery said.
A Powerball player in Florida hit a $215 million jackpot in the May 6 drawing, marking the last top prize won in the game, lottery officials said.
