An SOS message alerted rescuers to four people who had been thrown into the water when their boat capsized off Alabama, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The message was sent from a satellite device to watchstanders at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday, May 30, the U.S. Coast Guard’s Eighth District said in a news release.

One person got in touch with authorities and told them he had been on a 28-foot catamaran that capsized near Dauphin Island, rescuers said.

Four people were sent into the water without life jackets, the Coast Guard said.

A helicopter responded and airlifted the boaters to safety.

No injuries were reported, officials said.

Dauphin Island is on the Gulf Coast.
