North West’s performance as Simba in ‘The Lion King’ goes viral
Video of North West performing in “The Lion King” at the Hollywood Bowl is going viral.
Over the weekend, Kim Kardashian’s oldest daughter, North, whom she shares with Kanye West took center stage at the Hollywood Bowl.
North assumed the role of Simba for the live production of “The Lion King.” It seems as though seeing her dad perform and her mom assume the title of actress has encouraged the 11-year-old to do the same.
In the video shared on social media, North is seen wearing her own costume while singing “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” with the rest of the cast.
According to People, a spokesperson involved with the show confirmed that North and other special guests — Jennifer Hudson and Jeremy Irons — were not outfitted by the production.
The performance, like many, was met with mixed reactions.
But despite some of the negative reactions, the original voice of Simba is standing behind North and her performance.
In a statement by Jason Weaver, he called North a “superstar in the making.”
“What an honor it is to share the same stage with this young superstar in the making!!” Weaver said on Instagram. “I’m so PROUD you, North!! You’re doing a such PHENOMENAL job in this show! I can’t wait for people to see your performance of “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” when “The Lion King 30th Anniversary Celebration” eventually starts streaming on (Disney Plus)!!”
He continued, calling North “a true professional, and I wish you nothing but the best as you continue your journey towards GREATNESS!!”
North West is used to being on stage as she has performed alongside her dad. She has also been featured on one of his songs.
North was also praised by her mom, who shared images of North in costume on Instagram.
