Man without pants gropes multiple women inside Kroger store, Georgia cops say
A man accused of touching women’s butts as they shopped at an Atlanta-area grocery store was arrested, Georgia police say.
The man was arrested on four counts of sexual battery related to the March 22 incident at a Kroger in Marietta, according to the Cobb County Police Department. He also faces an obstruction charge.
Officers were called to the store at noon about someone groping female shoppers, police said in a news release. The man in question was wearing a hoodie but didn’t have on pants, according to officers.
Customer Jenna Mappin said the incident left her feeling “shocked” and “angry,” WAGA reported.
“I was wearing a jacket, and he lifted up my jacket, and he touched my butt,” Mappin told the station. “I was just like, what just happened?”
Witnesses pointed out the suspect, who police said tried to run from the store when authorities arrived. An officer arrested him without incident.
Further investigation revealed the man groped a woman inside the grocery store earlier that day, then returned and touched three more women, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Eric Smith told WAGA.
He remained in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on a $5,720 bond as of March 28, online records show.
Marietta is about a 20-mile drive northwest of downtown Atlanta.
