A father and son’s love for Hot Wheels landed them a Guinness World Record title in Oregon, officials said.

Chase Lane and his son Gavin, 5, broke the record of “most loop-the-loops in a Hot Wheels track,” according to an Oct. 3 news release by the Guinness World Records.

Lane saw the record had been set by a grandpa-grandson duo in the past with 19 loop-the-loops on a supported track so he “decided to break their record,” officials said. They successfully completed 20 loop-the-loops.

“I knew we had a hundred cars and we could do it,” Lane said in the release. “I had family pitch in to buy the rest of the loops we needed. I knew it would be a fun thing for us to do together!”

The pair, who love to spend time playing Legos and riding scooters together, spent June 18 driving to different “locations to find the perfect spot,” record officials said.

Preparing the track took the team six hours as they had to add more stabilizers made out of tape and cardboard, officials said.

The record breakers’ family and friends came out to show their support, an Oct. 4 TikTok posted by the Guinness World Records showed.

Although Lane said getting Gavin to stay focused during hours of work was hard, the little boy is “very happy to have broken a record” and showed it by dancing, officials said.

After the record got officially approved, Gavin told his friends at school, and the two framed the official document along with the car they used to break the record, officials said.

“We feel great, everyone is amazed that we made the effort and took the time to do this,” Lane said in the release. “No one we know has completed or attempted a record.”
