14-year-old girl crashes stolen car, killing 15-year-old boy, Pennsylvania cops say

A 15-year-old boy was thrown from a vehicle and died in a crash involving a 14-year-old driver, Pennsylvania authorities say.

The 14-year-old is accused of driving a Hyundai Sonata that had been stolen earlier in the day Sunday, Oct. 1, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania State Police said in a report. Drivers in Pennsylvania are only issued licenses after they turn 16 years old.

Troopers tried to pull over the driver at 5:50 p.m., but she fled on Interstate 76 in the stolen car, according to the state police report.

She eventually lost control of the Sonata and crashed into a concrete barrier on the shoulder before striking another vehicle, state police said.

“The vehicle then swerved back to the right and rolled several times up an embankment before coming to rest on the right shoulder,” according to the report.

A 14-year-old boy who was ejected during the crash was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said. Three other minors in the vehicle were also hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was charged with vehicular homicide, state police said.
