When Leslie Williams went onto the Virginia Lottery website to check the winning numbers of the Cash 5 game, he was shocked.
The Alexandria resident saw the numbers he had played, then the winning five numbers – and they were a perfect match.
“Could this really be possible?” he told lottery officials in an Aug. 30 release.
Those five numbers gave Williams the $1,063,690 jackpot prize.
The shock made him let out a “quiet scream,” he told officials.
The winning numbers for the June 18 drawing were 1, 20, 24, 26 and 35, and the odds of matching all five numbers are 1-in-749,398, according to the release.
Alexandria is about 10 miles south of Washington, D.C.
Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.
